Supporting Purdue Agriculture

Thank you for your support of Purdue Agriculture! Your generous contribution will help build and expand successful programs while allowing us to explore and develop new opportunities for student success. In Purdue Agriculture, we are always striving to adapt and diversify to meet the ever-changing and growing needs of our students. With your help, we will have the resources necessary to be at the forefront of these changes.

Where your gift is needed

There are many exciting projects underway in the College of Agriculture.  Here are just a few that would benefit from your gift.

  • Agricultural Development Fund
  • College of Agriculture Study Abroad Endowment
  • Leadership Certificate Development Program
  • Mauri and June Williamson Ag. Ambassador Scholarship
  • Agriculture Discovery Camp

Give to Purdue Agriculture Tax-Free from your IRA

New legislation enacted on October 3, 2008, contains a provision that allows an exclusion from gross income for certain distributions of up to $100,000 to Purdue University or the Purdue Research

Foundation in 2008 and 2009 by individuals age 70 1/2 or older from their traditional Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) or Roth IRAs, which would otherwise be counted as income.  It should be noted, however, that there is no charitable contribution deduction for the distribution.

This means that you can make a lifetime gift and direct it to the school, college, or program of your choice using funds from your IRA without experiencing any undesirable tax effects.  Without this legislation, you would have had to report any amount taken from your IRA as taxable income.  You then would have received a charitable deduction from the gift, but only up to 50 percent of your adjusted gross income.  Click here to learn more about this giving option!
