Kristi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Department of Forestry and Natural Resources at Purdue University.  Kristi received a B.A. in Biology from Oberlin College, an M.S. in Aquatic Ecology from Ohio State University, and a Ph.D. in Aquatic Ecology from Cornell University.  Her research interests focus on relationships between aquatic environmental characteristics, fish population and community dynamics, and aquatic food web interactions.  She works in the lab of Dr. Tomas Höök on an interdisciplinary project evaluating the causes, development, and biological implications of low dissolved oxygen levels in Lake Erie’s central basin bottom waters (i.e., hypolimnetic hypoxia).  Specifically, Kristi uses fish energy budget modeling to explore how hypolimnetic hypoxia influences habitat quality for economically and ecologically important fishes, including yellow perch and rainbow smelt.
