News from October 26, 2009

Welcome!
Please join me in welcoming Marlene Mann to FNR.  Marlene fills the administrative assistant position recently opened by the retirement of Marty Brown.  Marlene brings great credentials and enthusiasm to the position, as well as 22 years of experience in Psychological Sciences.  Although she still is settling in, I take it as a promising sign that Marlene has made it through her first Spotting Scope and is still coming to work with a smile on her face!  As a point of business, please direct future correspondence associated with Spotting Scope news to Marlene at mmann@purdue.edu.

Congratulations  --

  • Hao Zhang was elected to the membership of the International Statistical Institute (equivalent of Fellow of some professional societies). The International Statistical Institute (ISI) is one of the oldest international scientific associations functioning in the modern world. Its first congresses were convened in 1853, and it was formally established in 1885. The Institute is an autonomous society, which seeks to develop and improve statistical methods and their application through the promotion of international activity and co-operation.  Please join me in congratulating Hao on this well-deserved honor!
