Assistant Professor- Insect Systematics (Tenure Track)
The Department of Entomology seeks to fill a tenure track position in insect systematics. This is a nine-month appointment at the level of assistant professor with primary research and secondary teaching responsibilities.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will conduct research on insect systematics in the taxonomic group of their choice, integrating morphological and molecular approaches. The successful applicant is expected to develop a nationally and internationally recognized, externally funded research program, conduct interdisciplinary research with diverse research teams, and serve as curator of the Purdue Entomological Research Collection in an active and engaged manner. The successful applicant will also mentor graduate and undergraduate students and teach both graduate and undergraduate courses in taxonomy and systematics and other areas of interest that could include evolution and insect diversity.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in entomology or biological sciences with relevant training in insect systematics. Relevant post-doctoral research experience is desirable. Preference will be given to candidates with research interests in integrating and synthesizing different theories and approaches for conducting research on systematics, evolution, and biodiversity. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A background check is required for employment in this position.
