A Wiki Ethogram for the Laboratory Mouse
This site provides an online bioinformatics resource for researchers interested in observing and recording laboratory mouse behavior in the homecage environment.
The site is best viewed using Internet Explorer, and requires the Windows Media Player ActiveX Add-in to play video. If this add-in is not installed on your computer, you will be asked by your browser to confirm its installation, please do so, or video will not be available.
This site is currently in its beta version - several researchers are contibuting to the wiki, and as a result, the ethogram is undergoing comment and revision
The site is divided into three main areas:
The Mouse ethogram - An ethogram is an operationalized list of behaviors, arranged by their adaptive meaning to the animal. Different protocols, designed to capture different aspects of behavior will use a subset of the behaviors in the ethogram.
Methods and Protocols - These pages cover general methods for recording and analyzing home-cage video; and individual protocols designed for capturing particular aspects of behavior
Background information - These pages contain background information on the wiki, including links to contributors, and links to cited references.
