Administrative Responsibilities: As Head of the Department of Agronomy, I have administrative responsibility for 51 faculty and 310 staff and students. Programs in the department focus on our three mission areas in teaching, research, and extension with about 50% of our FTE’s in research and the other 50% FTE’s split between teaching and extension. Our programs in the department focus on four main thrust areas: genetic improvement of economic crops, environmental soil science and landscape processes, cropping systems and plant nutrition, and turf and the urban interface.
Research Areas: Root ecology, plant nutrition, and phytoremediation of contaminated soils.
