Curriculum Vitae

 

Professor Abbott conducts research on both international trade and international agricultural development. He has taught courses on mathematical programming, international trade, agricultural development, macro economics and trade policy.

Professor Abbott has consulted for several domestic and foreign government agencies, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization, commissions on food policy issues, and private agencies. He has been on the editorial boards of the American Journal of Agricultural Economics and the Journal of Development Economics. Professor Abbott served on the steering committees of the congressionally-mandated USDA study on Export Embargoes and Surplus Disposal of Agricultural Commodities, the International Agricultural Trade Research Consortium, regional research project NC-194, "Organization and Performance of World Food Systems," and the USDA-USTR Agricultural Technical Advisory Committee for Trade in Grains, Feeds and Oilseeds. He is also now conducting research on cocoa for IITA’s Small Tree Crops Program (STCP).

Four of his students have won national awards for the quality of their dissertations.
