Internship Positions
1)Agronomy Crop Scouting Internship:
(Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior level college student)
If you are looking for a great career in agriculture, the Agronomy Crop Scouting internship is a great place to
start.
Responsibilities include:
Weed and insect identification
Soil sampling
Learning scouting techniques
Customer service and follow-up
Crop nutrient and crop protection recommendations
Location specific operational work
Other duties as assigned
The intern will also have the opportunity to learn more about agronomy and cooperative practices with a special
summer project as assigned by the cooperative. Some special projects include:
Inventory reporting
Attending summer Answer Plot sessions
Completing customer service projects for the cooperative
Completing sales calls to growers in the field
The summer internship program will include a 2 day orientation training session at the beginning of the
internship, and a 2 day wrap-up session at the end of the internship. Candidate will be required to attend both
the orientation and wrap-up sessions.
2)Agronomy Sales and Marketing Internship:
(Sophomore, Junior or Senior level college student)
The Agronomy Sales and Marketing internship is for the qualified candidate looking for a career in agronomy.
This second level internship will include the following responsibilities:
Providing customer service
Attending Answer Plot sessions
Weed and insect identification
Recording agronomic crop information
Raising field signs
Preparing reports for selected key products
Location specific operational work
Cold calling customers to inform them about Answer Plot sessions
The intern will also have the opportunity to learn more about agronomy and cooperative practices with a special
summer project as assigned by the cooperative. Some special projects include:
Inventory reporting
Product-specific sales
Promotional material creation
Special training seminars
Completing special customer service projects for cooperatives
The summer internship program will include a 2 day orientation training session at the beginning of the
internship, and a 2 day wrap-up session at the end of the internship. Candidate will be required to attend both
the orientation and wrap-up sessions.
The orientation session will provide training on how to identify various weeds, insects and diseases in the field
as well as special sessions regarding safety, customer service training, and extensive sales training.
Education required:
The ideal candidate will have at least 1-2 years of previous internship experience.
Full-Time Positions
1) Agronomy Sales:
(Full-Time Entry Level / College Graduate)
Description: Develop and support marketing strategy, sales and services of plant nutrients, crop protection and
seed products, to improve producer’s crop production efficiency and profitability. Apply advanced crop
production technologies for profitable, efficient and environmentally sound agriculture.
Professional Applicator:
(Full-Time Opportunity)
Description: Perform custom applications of fertilizers and crop protection products. Work with agriculture
retail professionals to apply crop protection products and crop nutrients. Assist with scouting, product
transportation and various services for producers. Possess the willingness to adapt to changing application
technologies as well as seasonal variations in workload responsibilities. Maintain equipment and log books, as
well as complete other duties as assigned. Insure adherence to all State and Federal environmental health and
safety requirements including product labeling and proper personal protective equipment.
