This issue of Agricultural Economics contains articles on the causes and effects of the spike in world food prices that occurred in 2007-08.  The extraordinary speed and magnitude of that crisis sparked a flow of applied research, and justified a major effort for our journal to publish the best new research as quickly as possible.
