AgComm Publishing edits and designs peer-reviewed numbered Purdue Extension materials. These publications range from one-page fact sheets to interactive CD-ROMs.

Promotional Materials

AgComm Publishing staff can make your product, program, or event a success by creating promotional and marketing materials. From postcards to billboards, no project is too small or too big. Custom-designed, high-end promotional materials take more time and money to create, so be sure to allow for that in your schedule and budget.

Web Site Editing and Design

Our editors and designers work with you and your technical support staff to develop Web sites based on your needs and those of your audience. We edit your copy and create a design for your site, then turn it over to you to maintain.

CD-ROMs and DVDs

Our editors and designers create CD-ROMs and DVDs, whether you want a CD/DVD of conference papers or a fully interactive instructional tool complete with video and animation.

In 2004, we produced 17 CD/DVD projects.

Periodicals

Publishing staff specialists play a major role in writing, editing, and designing AgComm's periodicals:

Agricultures is an award-winning publication that reaches an audience of 20,000 and is produced three times a year. It is copy edited by Laura Hoelscher and designed by Russ Merzdorf, who also designed the Web site. Christine Roper maintains the Web site.

Connections, Purdue alumni's award-winning tabloid, reaches an audience of 45,000 and is produced three times a year. It is edited by Frank Koontz and designed by Dan Annarino, who also designed the Web site. Christine Roper provides production assistance.

Destination Purdue is aimed at Indiana high school students and reached about 9,000 readers in 2004. It is produced twice a year by YDAE 460 (Agricultural Publishing) students and managed by Kevin Leigh Smith, who teaches the course. Chip Morrison is the magazine's design advisor and designed the Web site. Becky Goetz is the editorial advisor. Virginia Quesada maintains the Web site.

Journal of Extension (JOE), edited by Laura Hoelscher, is the official refereed journal of the U.S. Cooperative Extension system. Hoelscher sets editorial policy, initially reviews all submissions, determines final disposition of articles, and assembles six online issues per year. In 2004, approximately 1,056,000 visitors read JOE.

On Target, published quarterly, is an electronic newsletter that offers communication tips for Purdue Agriculture faculty and staff. Kevin Leigh Smith is the managing editor and writes the “Grammar Trap” column. Russ Merzdorf designed the Web site.

Purdue Extension Education Store

Christine Roper maintains and updates the gateway page to the Purdue Extension Education Store, the online resource for Purdue Extension educational materials. Dan Annarino and Virginia Quesada designed the page.
